The Taylor Street location houses several small industrial buildings and associated parking lots. A portion of the lot along the creek has been acquired. This site will be cleared of existing buildings once the buildings scheduled to remain have been stabilized. This site will provide access to the creek-side trail both at Taylor and Oak Streets and is a half block from the existing Sonny Vereen Park to which a pedestrian-safe connection will be provided.
Through historic deed and fire insurance map research, it was discovered that a portion of one of the parcels once served as a cemetery for a local AME congregation. That portion of the site will be designed to recognize and memorialize its past use and will provide a space for quiet reflection and remembrance.
