The park contains a recently renovated picnic and restroom facility (originally built in the 1930s) that serves the two existing softball fields as well as any scheduled community gatherings. Hetzel Field also contains a pool facility/restroom complex adjacent to the creek and is connected to the remaining park and bridge to George Page Park by an interior drive.

Renovation plans for the over-all facility are being developed and when completed with funds from the NJDEP – Green Acres Program and the City of Trenton, the park will include two new ball fields, designed to be used simultaneously, improved parking and public access as well as plaza spaces and landscaping and lighting improvements. In addition, the pool complex will receive a complete make over with the pool-house and pool scheduled for a total renovation and the addition of a spray-pool facility.
