Renovated in 1995 – 1998, the park had suffered from benign neglect and was in need of an updated playground (the existing one was fenced and paved with asphalt). Extensive landscape improvements, partially provided with substantial funding from Trees for Trenton restored the park as an urban oasis. Large areas of asphalt were removed and replaced with lawn and trees, a half-court basketball facility was added and a new playground installed. Ornamental lighting and brick and bluestone paving completed the project.
